ClimbingQTs UK Chapter
Events Code of Conduct
We are committed to making our WhatsApp chats and meet-ups as safe, respectful, inclusive and enjoyable as possible. Our members all have different identities, views and experiences so it is important that everyone has a common understanding of appropriate behaviour.
We require all QTs members to follow this code of conduct.
Code of Conduct
All queer identities are valid and welcome in Climbing QTs
We do not gate-keep or police queer identities, genders, or any other rainbow experience
We stand in solidarity with our siblings of all races
Please be considerate when sharing any materials in the group, we have a large following and members who identify with all aspects of queerness.
Don’t out fellow trans climbers and don’t assume a members pronouns
Use gender neutral terms when addressing the group
Use inclusive language in your messaging, avoiding ableist, racially insensitive, or gendered language.
Climbing QTs welcomes all queer people irrespective of race, ethnicity, nationality, class, religion, beliefs, age, accent or culture.
Please use trigger warnings to protect members from content that may hurt or distress them. Please be especially sensitive around hate crimes and attacks against members of our community.
What happens if the Code of Conduct is broken?
Please speak to a QTs representative as soon as possible if you experience or witness anything that makes you feel uncomfortable or which may be in breach of the Code of Conduct. Even if you do not want anything done, please still let us know. If you are able you can tell us during the event by speaking to a rep present at the event, or after the event by contacting the reps via WhatsApp.
Examples of things we can do:
listen to you in a private space
talk to the others involved
ask for an apology
ask them to leave you alone
exclude them from the rest of the event
exclude them from future events
